Pairing Aliphatic HDI Hardeners with Polyaspartic DSPA-series Resins

How aliphatic HDI trimer hardeners such as Dongsen HDX-100 are evaluated with Monolith polyaspartic resins.

Polyaspartic coatings are two-component systems: a polyaspartic resin (amino-functional aspartate ester chemistry in practical use) plus an isocyanate hardener. On this site, resins are branded Monolith Chem; featured hardeners are Dongsen HDX-100 and HDX-1200.

HDX-100 at a glance

Public Dongsen data for HDX-100 describes an aliphatic HDI trimer, 100% solids, NCO about 22.0 ± 0.5%, free HDI ≤ 0.3%, viscosity about 3250 ± 750 cps at 25°C. It is used in floor coatings, automotive OEM & refinish, wood & furniture and industrial PU directions.

Formulation checklist

  1. Calculate NCO:OH (or equivalent amine) stoichiometry for the chosen Y-grade EW / OH%.
  2. Confirm pot life and gel time under your climate and application method (spray vs roller).
  3. Request TDS/MSDS from Monolith (jb@polyasparticresin.com) or Dongsen — do not invent specs for grades without published numbers (e.g. HDX-1200).
